Performance features:

These include high specific speed, largest flow, high efficiency and low investment. Compared with the traditional vertical axial units, the medium water head has a simple structure and a larger volume of cross flow. Besides, much less work goes into construction, and maintenance is easy.

With the same capacity, the tubular turbine unit has a runner whose diameter is smaller than the axial tubular unit by between 10% and 15%, and its annual generating capacity is larger by between 10% and 15%. Compared to the axial tubular unit, investment costs on the tubular turbine may be lower by as much as 20%. Effectively, this machine is significantly more cost-efficient.

Solar energy is actually nuclear energy. In the inner 25% of the sun, hydrogen continuously fuses into helium at a rate of about 7 x 10 11kg of hydrogen every second. If this sounds like a lot, it is because it is. This is equivalent to the amount of mass that can be carried by 10 million railroad cars. There is no need to fear, though, that we are going to run out of fuel any time soon, as the sun has enough hydrogen in the core to continue at this rate for another 5 billion years. This energy production, coupled with gravitational compression, keeps the sun’s centre near a sweltering 16 million K, which is about 29 million oF.

 
       

Heat from the core is first primarily radiated, and then primarily convected, to the Sun’s surface, where it maintains at a temperature of 5800 K3.

Definition

Bio-gas is combustible gas used for cooking purposes in agricultural communities. Bio-gas is composed largely of methane, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide. It is produced by fermenting animal and human wastes in the absence of oxygen (an anaerobic process). Solids, remaining after the fermentation is complete, are used as organic fertilizer.

Application

Bio-energy has received a lot of attention recently in addressing the problem of global warming and establishing a recycling-based society. Bio-energy refers to renewable biomass resources that produce an array of energy-related products. The term biomass means any plant-derived and non-fossil-derived organic matter such as wood wastes and raw garbage. It is said to be "carbon neutral" and does not contribute to increase of carbon dioxide as do fossil fuel resources.

The diagram at the bottom shows an example of simultaneous production of heat and power using a gas engine co-generation unit with biogas obtained by methane fermentation of excretory substance in a livestock farm.  

Biogas Cookers/Burners
